A healthy body is your best friend, the one you spend your whole life with. So remember to stop and listen to what it has to say! Bodymaja’s Body Composition Measurement is an easy and fun way to get to know your body and see how your everyday choices affect its well-being.
Anything but boring and pointless
You may have heard of body composition measurement before. You may think that you won’t be able to get to know body composition for years – you’re still young and feel healthy and well.
But we all have only one body, and we spend our whole lives with it. The better you treat it, the more enjoyable your years together will be. The small choices we make every day affect our bodies’ wellbeing more than you might think – and that’s why they matter so much.
Using body composition measurement:
✅ Know what your body is really made of
✅ Quickly see how your daily choices affect your body
✅ You can make choices in your everyday life to ensure your well-being
✅ Get help planning your eating and exercise habits
✅ Detect potential health problems early so you can prevent and treat them more effectively
And getting to know your own body is fun and interesting: it’s like getting a super-precise X-ray! Comparing your previous measurements feels like a game, where you can see how your everyday choices affect your overall score.
How to use body composition measurement
Body composition measurement by Bodymaja provides a similar, easy-to-read report for each measurement, which goes through the results with a comprehensive explanation. All reports are saved to your My Body account, where you can also track your progress.
We measure 17 different values about your body, but for everyday choices we recommend you pay particular attention to these:
Total score
The score indicates your InBody score on a scale of 1-100. The score describes the structure and strength of your body. The score is influenced by muscle and fat mass in relation to your target values. The stronger and more balanced your body composition, the higher your score. A normal range is considered to be between 70 and 90.
Body composition
This section of the My Body report tells you exactly what your measured weight consists of. In addition to your total weight, you’ll find out how much muscle and fat mass your body has and how they’re distributed, harmful visceral fat, as well as water, protein and minerals.
Muscle balance
The muscle balance section describes the fat-free mass in five different parts of the body. Fat-free mass consists of muscle, bone, water and other tissues, and its distribution in different parts of the body can be used to help assess muscle balance. Muscle balance means that the different muscle groups are in harmony with each other, both in terms of strength and mobility: differences in muscle balance can affect body function and cause pain or numbness. This analysis can help to identify any imbalances or mismatches between the upper and lower body, helping to optimise exercise programmes and prevent injuries.
Muscle-fat diagnosis
Muscle fat diagnosis is a good measure for monitoring changes in body composition. In addition to weight, you can see the amount of muscle and fat mass in kilograms. You can also see how much the result differs from normal.
Visceral fat
Visceral fat (better known as visceral fat) refers to the amount of fat accumulated around the internal organs. Visceral fat is one of the best lifestyle variables and the most important health outcome to monitor in the report. High visceral fat is associated with diabetes, metabolic syndrome and many other lifestyle diseases. A healthy limit is defined as less than 100cm2.
Survey parameters
The survey parameters give you a lot of useful information about your own body. There are many study parameters, but the basic metabolic rate and recommended calorie intake are particularly helpful in planning your eating habits.
Calorie consumption in sport
Caloric expenditure in physical activity tells you how much energy a person of your size consumes in different types of physical activity during a half-hour period. The values can be used as a reference for planning energy intake or for assessing the weight loss goal and the impact of exercise and nutrition in achieving it. The report provides values for a wide range of physical activities, from walking to gym training and cycling, and also includes many everyday activities such as cleaning. This allows you to assess and plan your own physical activity habits.
Wide range of blood pressure and compression force*
With Bodymaja’s body composition measurement, you also have the option of a comprehensive blood pressure and compression force measurement. Blood pressure measurement is an important preventive health measure to help assess your cardiovascular health. In addition to blood pressure, we also measure your mean arterial pressure (M.A.P.), heart rate and cardiac workload and oxygen consumption (RPP). Compressive strength measurement provides valuable information, especially about muscle strength in the arms and upper body, but it also reflects your overall muscle tone and functional capacity.
*Comprehensive blood pressure and compression force measurement is only included in the premium membership, other measurement packages are available as an additional service.
