How to use body composition measurement to support your training

Body composition measurement by Bodymaja provides a similar, easy-to-read report for each measurement, which goes through the results with a comprehensive explanation. The report includes clear graphs of each value and its evolution, as well as instructions on how to interpret the results, making it easy for you to use the information you get. All reports are saved in your My Body account, where you can also track your progress.

These are the values that an active exerciser should pay particular attention to:

 

Total score

The report gives your InBody score on a scale of 1-100. Your score describes the structure and strength of your body. The score is influenced by muscle and fat mass in relation to your target values. The stronger and more balanced your body composition, the higher your score. A normal range is considered to be between 70 and 90.

 

Body composition

This section of the My Body report tells you exactly what your measured weight consists of. In addition to your total weight, you’ll find out how much muscle and fat mass your body has and how they’re distributed, harmful visceral fat, as well as water, protein and minerals.

 

Muscle-fat diagnosis

Muscle fat diagnosis is a good measure for monitoring changes in body composition. In addition to weight, you can see the amount of muscle and fat mass in kilograms. You can also see how much the result differs from normal.

 

Body fat percentage and BMI/FMI

The fat percentage tells you what percentage of your body weight is fat. The target is 10-20% for men and 18-28% for women. BMI gives an overview of body weight in relation to height and helps to assess whether a person is underweight, normal weight or overweight. The FMI, on the other hand, gives a more accurate measure of body fat mass in relation to height, which gives a better picture of actual body composition. The FMI is particularly useful because it distinguishes between fat and muscle, making it better suited to assessing health, especially in people with high muscle mass or low fat mass.

 

Muscle balance

The muscle balance section describes the fat-free mass in five different parts of the body. Fat-free mass consists of muscle, bone, water and other tissues, and its distribution in different parts of the body can be used to help assess muscle balance. Muscle balance means that the different muscle groups are in harmony with each other, both in terms of strength and mobility: differences in muscle balance can affect body function and cause pain or numbness. This analysis can help to identify any imbalances or mismatches between the upper and lower body, helping to optimise exercise programmes and prevent injuries.

 

Nutritional status assessment

A nutritional status assessment will tell you whether the levels of protein, minerals or fat in your body indicate malnutrition or whether they are normal. In the case of fat, the amount may also be excessive.

 

Survey parameters

The survey parameters give you a lot of useful information about your own body. The parameters measured are: intracellular water (ICW), extracellular water (ECW), basal metabolic rate, recommended caloric intake, bone mineral mass, body cell mass and fat mass index (FMI).

 

Wide range of blood pressure and compression force*

With Bodymaja’s body composition measurement, you also have the option of a comprehensive blood pressure and compression force measurement. Blood pressure measurement is an important preventive health measure to help assess your cardiovascular health. In addition to blood pressure, we also measure your mean arterial pressure (M.A.P.), heart rate and cardiac workload and oxygen consumption (RPP). Compressive strength measurement provides valuable information, especially about muscle strength in the arms and upper body, but it also reflects your overall muscle tone and functional capacity.
